"Here we go, into the unknown. As are all things"

I'm Dan Johansen. Joyfully alive. Poet. Storyteller. Stoic. Cycle breaker. #DFJ

I'm what you might call a "slash". Yes, I'm a poet. I'm also a businessperson and entrepreneur. I'm a father. I'm a traveler. I seek - and offer - joy within every minute of this life that I'm so grateful to have. And I know it's all going to end someday. So I create. The same way I breathe. The same way I love. With all of me.

"The Light That Turns On When You Walk In The Room" is a book about falling and being in love, and these poems are the love notes left in the open - and sometimes hidden - but always meant to be found.
"The Way In" features a series of poems that are reflections in the mirror, messages intended to be reminders of what it means to be fully alive, with purpose and grace. Positive expressions to remind us of the countless ways we can live a fulfilling life, to be a whole and vibrant person, so that we may grow to be a better person, partner, or friend.

The "What Crisis?" podcast documents the journey through, and lessons learned of living fully in the midpoints of life. No matter who you are, these are shared observations on what it means to be a SELF in a world full of supposed-to-be's.

What people are saying
"I am serious; hold your heart because it's going to feel as though the author has reached in and squeezed with the biggest hugs possible. The back cover is a solid indication of what's inside. This is a book that deserves to be savored word by word, with your significant other or alone. I read it to myself, to the parts of myself that have needed to hear these words for a long time. Gushing? I'm sorry. I can't help it. The author said this book is for those who love love. If you don't yearn for love when you buy this book, you will by the time you finish reading it."

"At times you can smell Bukowski in the distance at the bar, albeit a happier version, but more often it pulls in the simplicity of ways we can describe complex issues of love, loss and self without the need of voluminous sonnets. In the end, it is a reminder that love is a choice, one worthy to be made again and again."
